What is Resolute B.I.?

Resolute Building Intelligence is fault detection, analytics, and reporting solution that consists of two apps—Synergy and Fusion. Resolute B.I. connects to a buildings existing BAS to provide insights based on rule based analytics and reports to better understand your buildings performance and identify any issues.

What is Fusion?

Resolute Fusion™ is a fault detection and diagnoses tool for buildings. A building owner can view one building or an entire portfolio of buildings. The users will utilize tools such as Analytics, Reports, and the Action Center. Users can also take a deep dive look into a buildings data with the Explorer tool. The Explorer tool allows users to select individual data points and chart them.

The Goal

The goal for Resolute Fusion was to design an intuitive, user-friendly tool that empowers building owners and facility managers to gain actionable insights into their building's performance. By focusing on a seamless user experience, I aimed to simplify complex data, enabling users to monitor and optimize equipment performance, extend the life of assets, and enhance occupant comfort. Key design decisions centered around creating easy-to-navigate features, such as Analytics, Reports, and the Explorer tool, which allow users to interact with real-time data and make informed decisions. My role was to ensure the UI/UX facilitated a smooth, intuitive experience that aligned with both user needs and business goals, ultimately improving operational efficiency and building performance.

Site & User Breakdown

Site Map

Resolute Fusion’s site map and information hierarchy are structured to accommodate the varied needs of users based on their building portfolio size and the type of data being viewed. For customers managing multiple buildings, the tool introduces a Portfolio Overview layer that consolidates key building data into a single view, allowing users to quickly scan summaries across their buildings. This overview serves as an entry point to more detailed views.

For clients managing a single building, the building layer serves as the default landing page, offering a comprehensive and intuitive view of that building’s data. Navigation from the Portfolio Overview leads directly to this building layer.

In some cases, a third layer is introduced, providing granular details such as individual reports, equipment data, or actionable items like maintenance tickets. The design of these layers is purposefully streamlined to ensure users can easily drill down into specific areas of interest without feeling overwhelmed by data overload.

A key design feature is the integration of the Explorer tool, which is accessible from most pages. The Explorer allows users to interact with time-series charts for deeper analysis, enhancing their ability to monitor building performance. Users can access raw data by drilling into reports or equipment details, or they can launch the Explorer to visualize key data points through the Point Selector tool. To streamline ongoing analysis, users can also bookmark specific charts, reducing the need for repetitive tasks and enhancing efficiency.

Throughout the design, I focused on creating a clean, intuitive navigation structure and ensuring that users could easily access both high-level summaries and detailed data, all while maintaining a user-centric approach to usability and functionality.

User Role: Super Admin

Super Admins have full access to all buildings and pages within Fusion, allowing them to perform a variety of system-wide tasks. They are responsible for configuring Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and managing all user roles with the same or lower access levels. The Super Admin role requires broad oversight of the entire system, making them key to ensuring user access and security protocols are maintained across the platform.

User Role: Portfolio Manager

Portfolio Managers have access to all buildings and pages within Fusion but are limited to managing user roles of lower access levels, specifically Facility Managers and Limited Users. They are primarily responsible for overseeing building performance across multiple sites, providing them with the ability to view data at a portfolio level while managing day-to-day operations and user permissions within their scope. Portfolio Managers play a crucial role in ensuring the alignment of resources and tasks across multiple buildings under their portfolio.

User Role: Facility Manager

Facility Managers have access to all pages within Fusion, but their building access is restricted to those buildings assigned to them by Super Admins or Portfolio Managers. Typically, Facility Managers are responsible for monitoring building performance and operational tasks within a specific set of buildings, which can range from one to a few buildings. They do not have access to data outside of their assigned buildings, and their user role typically involves managing Limited Users who assist with building operations.

User Role: Limited User

Limited Users have restricted access to specific buildings or tools within the platform, such as the Custom Dashboard or the Action Center. These users are often contractors or project-based employees who are granted access to certain functionalities for a limited time. Their role is typically focused on specific tasks or projects, and they are not responsible for daily building operations or the management of other users. Limited Users are restricted from making system-wide changes or accessing sensitive operational data beyond what is relevant to their assignments.
